A Beating and a Bonding

The third and, from what I’ve been told, final story in a trilogy of commissions for the same person who wanted me to write “Back for More” and “An Old Friend” (they still wished to remain anonymous, but have allowed me to post this to my gallery). Like with the other two stories, I enjoyed writing this one quite a lot ^^

Letter to the Unknown

This has been a long time coming; ever since I initial wrote “Letter to the Unknown,” I’ve wanted to expand on it significantly. Again, like with the original, this one is quite a personal story to me. Will this go beyond the limits of a short story and expand into a novella or novel? Only time will tell. For now, though, I feel this is good where it’s at.

Hope you guys enjoy!

Back for More

Second story commission I’ve written. This was an interesting one to write for a few reasons:

  1. I enjoyed the central theme the commissioner requested for this one.
  2. While this seems like a serious test of strength between two men, things get a little…silly (per commissioner request). That made writing this a bit interesting.
  3. This one gave me an opportunity to try my hand at writing action/fighting sequences.

This story is a little on the mature side due to strong language and mild violence.

The commissioner wishes I keep them anonymous, but have allowed me to post their story to my gallery.

Letter to the Unknown

This was originally part of the 100 Themes Challenge that I stopped doing due to college starting up at the time. Lately however, I decided to look back on my entries for it and see which ones I could polish up. This is one of them.

Also, this story is the most reflective I’ve gotten in my fiction writing; there are quite a few parallels between what’s contained here and my own life.

Marked “Mature” due to a slur, even though it was used sarcastically.

Enjoy!

“It’s been twenty years,” Zach thought to himself. He lied there in his briefs on his bed on a lazy Saturday morning. He was in that state of waking up where you would be wide awake, but you didn’t want to get out of bed just yet. “It’s been twenty years since he left me…since he left us.” Continue reading

The Father

I could feel my feet and shins dragging across some kind of smooth floor, tile by the patter of it, the kind you find at schools or hospitals. My arms and shoulders felt numb, I could barely feel the pull of my captors. I couldn’t see at all. My eyes were gone, my throat was swollen, and all I could smell was my drying blood in my nostrils. All that damage from a few punches, by one guy no less.

Whoever was dragging me stopped. I heard a click of a button of some kind. “Yes?” asked a booming voice; it sounded scratchy like it was coming out of an old speaker. Continue reading
